A Milan based artist and music curator, ti es, has launched diggercamp, an AI powered music discovery platform focused on underground and independently released electronic music. The service allows users to find tracks with similar sound characteristics rather than relying on genre labels or popularity metrics.

AI Based Music Discovery Without Genre Tags

Users can paste links from YouTube, Bandcamp, or SoundCloud. They can also upload audio files directly. The platform then analyses each track based on rhythm, texture, energy, and timbre.

As a result, diggercamp recommends music with closely matched sonic profiles. This approach shifts discovery away from traditional tagging systems and listening history.

Catalogue and Supported Genres

According to ti es, the platform currently indexes more than two million tracks. In addition, tens of thousands of new tracks are added daily from independent sources such as:

– Bandcamp
– Curated YouTube channels
– Revibed

The catalogue currently focuses on electronic styles, including techno, trance, electro, dub techno, and acid. However, future updates aim to include jazz, reggae, hip hop, ambient, and funk.

Technology Behind Diggercamp

Diggercamp combines traditional audio analysis with CLAP, a neural audio model developed by Microsoft Research. This model enables what ti es describes as a semantic understanding of sound.

Each track is converted into a mathematical fingerprint. The system then compares tracks using cosine similarity to identify matches across its database.

Search Modes and User Experience

The platform includes three search modes, each designed for different discovery goals:

– Standard
– Deep Match
– Surprise Me

These modes allow users to adjust how closely results match the original input or explore broader recommendations.

Position on AI in Music Discovery

Ti es states that diggercamp is designed to support existing music discovery practices rather than replace them.

“The rabbit hole is the same,” he told Resident Advisor. “The entrance is just wider.”

Availability and Pricing

Diggercamp is currently free to use during its launch period. Paid plans are expected later this year.
