DinSync has introduced the R101, a rackmount recreation of the Roland SH101. The unit adapts the classic monosynth for a compact 19 inch format while keeping the original control layout and character.

Design and Format

The R101 is a new version of the company’s earlier RE101. It was developed with Krumptronics and placed in a 150 mm deep rack enclosure. It removes the mini keyboard but keeps the full feature set of the original instrument. It also includes all standard connectivity, along with extra aux jacks that work with Eurorack levels.

Internal Architecture

DinSync focuses on accurate hardware recreation. R101 uses a Trevor Page Goblin CPU. According to Paul Barker, this CPU updates the original design and adds MIDI input and output. The unit includes a Curtis CEM3340 VCO, an Analogue Renaissance 3109 VCF and a new BA662 replica VCA chip.

Paul Barker stated, “This is the most authentic 101 in existence, no compromises.”

Demonstrations

Audio demonstrations of the R101 are available on the DinSync Instagram account. These clips show the R101 in standard SH101 style patches.

Pricing and Availability

DinSync plans to present the R101 in blue and red finishes at Superbooth 2026. Pricing is not confirmed. Barker commented, “We can’t say for sure until we have the metalwork done.” Further details are expected at the event.
