Help Superior Elevation Recover from Hurricane Ida

By News No Comments

The record store Superior Elevation Brooklyn has established a GoFundMe campaign in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida.

The business, which was founded in 2015 by Ellen Kanamori and Tom Noble, suffered significant damage during Hurricane Ida. “During the severe rains, the building’s sewage/drainage system failed, releasing about four feet of water into the store,” according to the description on the shop’s GoFundMe. “They were able to pump out all of the water once assistance came. They were able to save a tiny amount of records, but at least 75 percent of them were destroyed in the flood, if not more.”

While the business has security, there is no assurance of payment, and proving the worth of the numerous unknown and rare recordings on-site would be impossible. Regardless, the team is determined to recover from this setback and is looking for a new location in East Williamsburg or Bushwick, to improve on the previous White Street location.
