In response to Moogfest 2020’s cancellation for logistical issues, Moog Music is being sued for claimed contract violations.
The event’s marketing agency, UGS, said that Moog had unlawfully terminated a three-year contract made in March 2018, which indicated UGS would manage the festival until 2020. Another issue was Moog’s failure to pay for its services in 2018. According to UGS’s lawsuit, the company is claiming $25,000.
According to Moog Music’s president and CEO, Michael J. Adams, these allegations are “baseless lawsuits filed by an organization that canceled the contract just days before it expires.”
Another identical accusation was made in 2019 when the festival’s promoter Q Level filed suit, alleging Moog had unlawfully “revocation” its rights to host future festivals.
Moog was also sued for gender discrimination earlier this year. Hannah Green a former Moog sales assistant, is seeking the business for over $1 million in damages and legal expenses, according to her lawyer.
During a sales team meeting, Green heard a joke about “killing a lady” that she reported to management, which did nothing about it. Green depicted the workplace as a “boys club,” with regular comments about “golden showers”
She alleges that as the only female member of the sales team, she has suffered harassment and physical threats from her male colleagues on several occasions. She claims she was dismissed in April 2019 as a result of her allegations of unfair treatment.
On June 14th, 2021, a Moog spokesman disputed these charges, stating that the company had conducted its “own internal investigation and found that the accuser’s allegations involving discrimination and retribution were baseless.”
