Todd Terry, a veteran New York house music DJ and producer, will open a new venue called Freeze Hifi in Liverpool’s Ropewalks district. The space will function as both a listening bar and café.

Freeze Hifi to Open Inside Tea Factory

Freeze Hifi will be located within the Tea Factory on Wood Street, near the Bombed Out Church. The venue is named after Terry’s Freeze Records label.

Late-Night Operating License Approved

Liverpool City Council has approved a license allowing operation until 4 AM on weekends.

– The license applies to weekend nights only.
– The approval follows measures to manage sound levels and reduce possible disruptions.

Focus on High-Quality Vinyl Playback

According to business partner Andrew Duckworth, Freeze Hifi will focus on audio fidelity rather than loud volume.

– Music will be played from vinyl for sound quality.
– It will not operate as a conventional nightclub.
– Measures are in place to address noise concerns from nearby residents.

Daytime Café Operations

During daytime hours, the venue will run as a coffee shop in the former Revolution Bar location.

– Ambient volumes will accompany coffee service.
– Music programming will reflect Todd Terry’s influences.

Freeze Hifi is expected to combine specialist audio experiences with community-oriented design.
