This year’s Sound Art Festival will take place in Berlin’s recently shuttered TXL. In terminals A and B from August 21 to September 5, Sonambiente Berlin TXL is touted as a “farewell to Berlin TXL” and an “event for sights and sounds.” A virtual reality installation and sound performances by artists such as Laurie Anderson & Hsin-Chien Huang, Emeka Ogboh, Blixa Bargeld, Felix Kubin, Scanner, and Electric Indigo will be included.

A favorite of DJs and touring musicians due to its quick travel time, the airport will close in November 2020. Soon, its terminal building will house the Berlin University of Applied Sciences, which will be house There will be a new residential neighborhood called Schumacher-Quartier built on top of Urban Tech Republic.

Sonambiente has been held twice before, in 1996 and 2006, at various sites.
