Native Instruments has entered preliminary insolvency proceedings under German law. According to CEO Nick Williams, all hardware and software products remain available for purchase, download, and activation.

Operational Status Unchanged

In a public blog post, Williams stated that Native Instruments GmbH and three affiliated German holding entities filed for pre-insolvency to support financial restructuring. He confirmed that day-to-day operations across Native Instruments and its partner brands—iZotope, Plugin Alliance, and Brainworx—are continuing. Product development and new feature rollouts are also underway.

Purpose and Scope of Proceedings

The filings aim to create a stable path toward financial recovery without halting business activities. The Charlottenburg Local Court in Berlin appointed Prof. Dr. Torsten Martini as provisional insolvency administrator on January 27, 2026. His role includes:

– Assessing Native Instruments’ financial situation
– Securing company assets
– Exploring restructuring options and potential asset sales

These proceedings restrict major financial decisions and creditor claims during the review period. However, they do not equate to liquidation or a stop in trading.

Impact on Subsidiaries and Products

Subsidiaries such as Plugin Alliance report no disruption to operations. Product updates and releases are continuing as planned. Flagship software including Kontakt, Maschine, Traktor, and Massive remains fully operational under existing licenses. Technical support is expected to remain in place.

Ownership and Background

Francisco Partners, which acquired a majority stake in Native Instruments in 2021, remains the primary investor. The company has undergone several restructuring efforts since then, including a 2023 merger and staff reductions.

What’s Next

The pre-insolvency process allows time for strategic review while maintaining service continuity. Native Instruments aims to achieve financial stability and long-term sustainability.
